Please join People of Con from July 4th to July 7th, 2024, as we attend Fan Expo Denver! We’ll be exploring this vast convention of all things nerdy, celebrating various fandoms, including comic books, cosplay, anime, and more.
Event Highlights
Celebrity Guests: Look forward to seeing stars such as Rosario Dawson from Ahsoka, Andy Serkis from The Lord of the Rings, and Jared Padalecki from Supernatural. Other notable guests include Brie Larson, Ella Purnell, Antony Starr, and Susan Sarandon.
Workshops and Panels: Fan Expo Denver offers “How To” workshops to up your pop culture game, covering everything from comic book creation to cosplay techniques. You can also participate in anime panels, meet comic creators, and join various fandom meetups.
Kids Activities: Activities will be provided by the Pop Culture Classroom, allowing kids to create and imagine through pop culture. Plus, don’t miss the Kids’ Cosplay Contest on Sunday, July 7th.
Special Events: Enjoy themed meetups, after-parties, and family-friendly activities throughout the weekend. The Fourth of July celebration will include movie marathons and other exciting events.
Tips for Enjoying Fan Expo Denver
- Stay Hydrated: With all the excitement, remember to drink plenty of fluids to keep yourself hydrated.
- Wear Comfortable Footwear: There will be a lot of standing and walking, so comfortable shoes are a must.
- Make a Plan: While not required, having a schedule for panels and meal breaks can help you make the most of your experience.
- Bring a Backpack: A backpack will help you carry your essentials like water, snacks, autograph books, and any merchandise you pick up along the way. It’s also handy for storing any freebies you might collect too!
- Charge Your Devices: Make sure to fully charge your phone and any other devices you plan to bring. Consider carrying a portable charger as well, so you don’t miss out on capturing those special moments or using the convention app.
- Connect with Fellow Fans: Fan conventions are a great place to meet like-minded individuals. Strike up conversations with fellow attendees in line or during panels. It’s a wonderful opportunity to make new friends who share your interests.
- Bring Cash: While many vendors accept cards, some might only take cash. It’s a good idea to have some on hand for smaller purchases or in case of any technical issues with card machines.
- Meet New People: Don’t be shy! Fan conventions are a great place to meet like-minded individuals. Strike up conversations with fellow attendees in line or during panels.
- Respect Cosplayers: If you see a cosplayer you’d like to photograph, always ask for permission first. Be respectful and remember that they’re fans just like you.
- Plan Your Meals: Convention center food can be pricey and not always the healthiest. Plan to bring snacks or scope out nearby eateries ahead of time.
- Stay Organized: Keep your tickets, ID, and any other important documents in a safe and easily accessible place. A lanyard with a badge holder can be very useful.
