San Diego, CA – July 17, 2025 – This year at San Diego Comic-Con, The Beat is leveling up its presence with a bold new collaboration that brings fantasy to life in an unforgettable way. Partnering with The Last Lumenian, the hit sci-fi/fantasy series by S.G. Blaise, The Beat is transforming its 2025 media room into an immersive set inspired by the richly imagined world of the Lumenian universe.
For the first time ever, The Beat will host its interviews and live coverage from a fully themed environment that looks and feels like it was pulled straight from the pages of The Last Lumenian. This creative partnership is more than just a backdrop — it’s a full sensory experience for creators, talent, and fans alike.

The Beat’s media room- now deemed CouchCon from its infamous orange couch- has become a hub for high-profile interviews, breaking news, and real-time video coverage during Comic-Con — and in 2025, it’s stepping into new territory by embracing narrative world-building as part of its production design. The result is a stunning fantasy set that will host top creators, pop culture voices, and special guests, all while offering fans exclusive content and behind-the-scenes access.
Leading the production is Patrick Meaney, an award-winning director known for acclaimed documentaries on comic book legends and fandom culture, such as Grant Morrison: Talking With Gods and She Makes Comics. His work has been featured on major platforms including Netflix and Amazon, and he’s also an accomplished comic book writer and narrative filmmaker.
On camera is Yael Tygiel, The Beat’s engaging producer and host. With years of experience covering conventions, red carpets, and pop culture news, Tygiel is recognized for her work across outlets like Collider, Fanversation, and ElectricNOW, bringing energy, insight, and inclusivity to every interview. Joining her as host is the effervescent Kari Lane, from Fanversation and many years of covering red carpet events and conventions.
