Hello folks and welcome to June in gaming. This is an extra large month as the Switch 2 will be releasing, so expect a large number of titles for the console. Until the Switch 1 is not supported, titles will be labeled for which Switch it is for, if they are only for a specific Switch. This year has been an absolute juggernaut in regard to amazing gaming, and there are still two big titles on the horizon that may be contenders for GotY. Indie devs cannot be discounted as there are at least 3 titles that should make it to GotY contender. Now, onto what to look forward to with June.
PC
Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma – June 5
Genre: Farm Simulated Battle RPG / Single Player / Price: 59.99
Trying to label a game like this to a specific genre is rather difficult. It takes ideas from Harvest Moon (now Story of Seasons) and Stardew Valley, and then adds in battle mechanics for exploration. If you’re someone that looks for a relaxing game with the option to engage in combat, this is the game for you.
Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4 – June 5
Genre: Linear RPG / Single Player / Price: 24.99
A demo is available for this game. These RPGs by Toby Fox take the traditional formula of JRPG and adds in small bullet hell mechanics, but more interesting than that is your choices affect the story of the game in a rather subtle way. Morality tends to have much more depth than choices being good or bad. Also, the music is incredible and worth a listen to.
Dragon is Dead (PC) – June 6
Genre: Hack & Slash Roguelike Platformer / Single Player / Price: 19.99
The game is out in early access, but major updates for its release will occur on the 6th. Highly praised, not just for its stunning pixel art, but for incredible gameplay.
MindsEye – June 10
Genre: Action Adventure Shooter / Single Player / Price: 59.99
This game looks like every other adventure shooter that’s existed over the last 20 years, however, a twist of choices ends up changing the pace of how the game is played.
Dune Awakening – June 10
Genre: MMO Survival / Players based on server size / Price: 49.99
Not only are people saying that this game feels like it belongs in the Dune universe, people are saying that this game offers a unique experience for an MMO. On a planet where life is under constant threat, players will need to learn how to traverse the sands as well as dealing with other worldly hostiles.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition – June 10
Genre: Action Adventure RPG / Single Player and Online Co-op / Price: N/A
This is a visually enhanced version of the game, including all DLC.
Stellar Blade – June 11
Genre: Action Adventure / Single Player / Price 59.99
A PlayStation exclusive makes its way onto PC. Praised for its challenging combat, this scifi fantasy pits players in a world that is near human extinction.
Wizard of Legend 2 – June 12
Genre: Roguelike / Single Player & Online Co-op / Price: 24.99
Those that have played early access are not fans in comparison to the first title. If this is your first rodeo, you may enjoy it with your friends.
The Alters – June 13
Genre: Survival / Single Player / Price: 34.99
This looks like a combination of other survival games and Fallout Shelter.
Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic – June 13
Genre: Horror Adventure / Single Player / Price: 39.99
FNaF is basically a household name now and seeing the evolution of games is actually exciting. These don’t feel like new sequels for the sake of cashouts, but rather, to expand the lore and the world around.
GEX Trilogy – June 16
Genre: Mascot Platformer / Single Player / Price: 39.99
This has to be one of the first games that has kept graphics at the same as when they were upon original release, but expanding view of scope and modernizing controls.
Tron: Catalyst – June 17
Genre: Top-view Beat-em up / Single Player / Price: N/A
A story driven title with action that is reminiscent of games from the early era.
Lost in Random: The Eternal Die – June 17
Genre: Roguelike / Single Player / Price: 24.99
If RNG from a roguelike wasn’t enough, your attacks are now based on the chance of a die.
Wartorn – June 17
Genre: Strategy Roguelike / Single Player / Price: N/A
The creative director of Boarderlands 2, and a design lead of Bioshock worked on this game.
FBC Firebreak – June 17
Genre: Co-op FPS / Up to 3 players / Price: N/A
If Left 4 Dead also gave you random tasks of “disbursing sticky notes before they get too excessive” as a challenge, I’m sure you’d be interested to see what it’s all about. Fight through waves of enemies while completing these unique tasks for a fun shooting adventure.
Date Everything! – June 17
Genre: Dating Sim / Single Player / Price: 26.99
I heard about this game years ago, and to my surprise, it is just coming out. A dating sim where everything is datable. There are 100 datable characters with their own unique story and voice. Seriously, just watch the trailer.
Rematch – June 19
Genre: Exaggerated Sports / Up to 5v5 online / Price: 29.99
If you take away Rocket League’s cars and replace them with people, it doesn’t just become soccer, but an explosive game of fast-paced soccer, and that is what this game is. It looks fast, it looks fun, and it’s made by a great studio.
Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army – June 19
Genre: Action RPG / Single Player / Price: 49.99
Another remaster of the Raidou series makes its way to modern consoles. Atlus is famous for its great RPGs, but be wary as they do tend to be on the more difficult side.
Star Overdrive – June 19
Genre: Adventure Platformer / Single Player / Price: 34.99
Previously released on the Switch to great reviews. With the release on the bigger consoles, players will be able to play this with improved graphics and framerate.
BitCraft Online – June 20
Genre: Survival Craft / As many as the server holds / Price: N/A
A game that focuses on survival and crafting, but now as an MMO.
System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster – June 26
Genre: FPS RPG / Single Player / Price: 29.99
If there’s one thing gamers can count on, it’s that Nightdive studios does a fantastic job of taking games of previous generations and modernizes controls for modern gamers to enjoy rich titles of the past. The System Shock series is what gave birth to the Bioshock series, so if you loved those, this is your opportunity to see its inception.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach (PS5) – June 26
Genre: Walking Simulator / Single Player / Price: 69.99
No one ever knows how to classify a Kojima game, but they are vastly interesting and story rich. This game is looking to be a contender for GotY.
Nintendo
Mario Kart World (Switch 2) – June 5
Genre: Comic Racing / Single Player & up to 24 Online / Price: 79.99
This game can be discounted for 50 dollars if purchased with the console bundle. It’s been 11 years since there has been a new mainline Mario Kart, and this title is taking the ideas of Forza Horizon and adding it to the world of Mario Kart. This isn’t the same game you’ve played for generations. While the heart may be there, the way you drive will be vastly different.
Sonic x Shadow Generations (Switch 2) – June 5
Genre: Mascot Platformer / Single Player / Price: 49.99
This game was released last year on all major consoles to high praise. A 2.5D of what traditional Sonic fans love with unique mechanics that exist depending on the character that is used. If you are a fan of Sonic games, this looks like it brings the original Genesis games into a vastly more beautiful world, and that is awesome.
Sid Meier’s Civilization 7– Nintendo Switch 2 Edition – June 5
Genre: Strategy / Single Player & up to 8 Online / Price: Upgrade is 9.99 – Based 59.99
The game released to good reviews, but definitely not one of the series most beloved entries. This version enables mouse controls for the Switch 2, which opens a world of new possibilities.
Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom Switch 2 Editions – June 5
Genre: Action Adventure / Single Player / Price: 69.99
If you have Nintendo Switch Online, these will be upgraded with that service as long as you have the service. Now able to run at 60fps at 4k or 120fps at 1080p, experience your time in Hyrule with much shorter loading times, and a definitive way of playing the game.
Split Fiction (Switch 2) – June 5
Genre: Co-op Action / 2 Player / Price: 49.99
Quite possibly a contender for GotY. The game is nothing short of fun. While there are blatant copies of sections from other games, it ties it together in a way where it fits this game perfectly. This game can be played in handheld, TV, and online.
Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut (Switch 2) – June 5
Genre: Action Adventure / Single & up to 4 online / Price: 49.99
A rerelease of what is considered one of the best Yakuza games. If you haven’t played a Yakuza game, they are a strange mixture of serious and comical, and when comical is stated, one should think obscure Japanese humor that will make you say, “who would come up with this?” Honestly a fun time.
Hitman World of Assassination – Signature Edition (Switch 2) – June 5
Genre: Action, Stealth, Shooting / Single Player / Price: 59.99
The thing about the Hitman games is that they give players a freedom to approach their missions with a wide array of tools at their disposal. No mission needs to be played the same way, and part of the fun is finding others that play these games and finding out their method of approaching the game.
Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster (Switch 2) – June 5
Genre: JRPG / Single Player / Price: 39.99
Originally released on the 3DS and now returning onto the NS2 with graphical upgrades, and modern adjustments to the UI. Truthfully, this game is fun up until the end, which interesting enough, if one could slog their way through it, will be rewarded with something not typically seen in games in general. There are a lot of fascinating things about this game, I just wished it wasn’t accompanied by what felt to be filler content.
Street Fighter 6 (Switch 2) – June 5
Genre: Fighting / Single Player & Offline or Online 2 Player / Price 59.99
Truthfully, Nintendo has not been known to have good online connection in the past, so I would be hesitant to recommend this when there is a PC version out. That being said, Nintendo is offering Amiibo for this game, and that in itself is really awesome.
Hogwarts Legacy (Switch 2) – June 5
Genre: Adventure RPG / Single Player / Price: 59.99
The same game that has been out for 2 years, now with mouse controls for the Switch 2.
Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition (Switch 2) – June 5
Genre: Open World CRPG / Single Player / Price: 69.99
It is impressive that they managed to put this graphical powerhouse onto the Switch 2 console. Granted, the game plays at 720p on handheld and can only go up to 1080p at 30fps, that is still an impressive feat. Maybe not the best way to play the game, but if you have no other way, it’s an incredible title.
Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour (Switch 2) – June 5
Genre: Tech Demo / Single Player / Price: 9.99
I will honestly be surprised if this gets sales over 100. It is unfortunate that this is not bundled with the console, or even given for free for those with Switch Online.
Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time (Switch 2) – June 5
Genre: JRPG / Up to 4 players / Price: 59.99
This title just released last month on all other platforms, and it has gotten high praise from those that have played it.
Front Mission 3: Remake – June 26
Genre: Tactical RPG / Single Player / Price: 34.99
This mech series originated on the SNES and was loved then, and these remakes have been getting the same kind of praise of the titles back in the 2D era.
Tamagotchi Plaza – June 27
Genre: Minigame Collection / Up to 2 players Couch co-op / Price: N/A
I had no idea Tamagotchi still existed. That being said, this looks like a nice game to sit with a friend or partner and do these little minigames.
Conclusion
Those are the titles that will be released in the month of June. The games that I really want to play the most are Rematch and FBC Firebreak. I will be looking out for Death Stranding 2, and of course I will be playing Mario Kart World, but for those that know me, I’m a huge fan of original games with unique ideas that stand out from the typical genre they are a part of.
