Synopsis: 

BREAKING NEW GROUND follows Broadway performer, entrepreneur, and educator Robert Hartwell as he takes on the challenge of transforming a 200-year-old house with a complicated history into a home filled with love. It’s a renovation story that celebrates the resilience of Robert’s journey as well as those who came before him.

Episode Descriptions:

Episode 101: The Parlor
Robert meets his team to begin renovating his 200-year-old home. On a mission to salvage as much of the 4,000-square-foot home as possible, Robert must make some hard decisions. He also finds a way to bring his family legacy with him on the journey.

Episode 102: The Kitchen and Dining Room
Robert takes on the huge challenge of renovating the kitchen and dining room. He must find a way to balance the books, and make an overwhelming number of decisions, while giving new life to this space with a troubling history.

Episode 103: The Primary Suite
Robert has visions of a primary suite where he can rest and reflect. To lay the foundation for his unconventional sanctuary, he takes a deep dive into family and history, learning where he came from and how he became the person he is today.

Episode 104: The Living Room, Study and Exterior
As Robert juggles his time between creative and construction challenges, he leans on his friends and learns more about his new community. The home’s exterior, family room and study shine in their new beginnings, with love at the core.

Episode 105: The Dance Studio and Family Spaces
As Great Barrington, MA, starts to feel like home, Robert dreams of building a one-of-a-kind dance studio with original details. He is also manifesting a room for a future family while he reflects on his original intention — to fill this house with joy.

Episode 106: Mom’s Suite
On a mission to finish his house, Robert works around the clock to make sure a suite for his mother is fit for a queen. Family, history, loss and perseverance brought Robert on this journey to build a home, and the culmination of love and joy is revealed.
