NEW YORK, NY (August 26, 2025) – Ahead of the October 31st global release for SS Rajamouli’s “Baahubali: The Epic”, Arka Mediaworks and Variance Films have released the first teaser trailer of the film, which can be viewed here

A newly-minted recutting of Rajamouli’s epic two-part “Baahubali” saga into a single, seamless film, this new vision from SS Rajamouli celebrates 10 years since the original “Baahubali: The Beginning” broke box office records, becoming the all-time highest grossing Telugu language film at the time. Its 2017 sequel, “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion,” surpassed and maintains that record, remaining the highest grossing Indian film of all time in North America.

SS Rajamouli, whose visionary filmography includes the Oscar-winning global smash “RRR,” conceived of and completed the new edit personally, returning to the saga a decade after it first asserted the worldwide might of Indian cinema. It is the first Indian franchise to inspire an official book series, licensed merchandise, graphic novels, and an animated series (Baahubali: The Lost Legends), and it continues to influence projects across streaming, gaming, and the rest of the global entertainment universe.

Variance Films, working on behalf of producer Shobu Yarlagadda’s Arka Mediaworks, will release “Baahubali: The Epic” exclusively in movie theaters in the United States alongside its global release on October 31st for a special limited run across both traditional screens and a full array of Premium Large Formats, including IMAX, Dolby Cinema, 4DX, and DBox. Visuals and sound have been updated to suit today’s cinema technology, making the film’s breathtaking world feel more vivid than ever. Running a touch under four hours, all screenings will feature a ten-minute intermission- truly the biggest night at the movies imaginable!

The story follows Sivudu (Telugu cinema superstar Prabhas, in an iconic dual role), an orphan who is rescued from a river as a baby and raised in a quiet tribal village at the foot of a towering waterfall. His world remains limited until a mysterious warrior’s mask falls from above, awakening a deep curiosity. Determined to discover its origin, he climbs the waterfall and uncovers a kingdom caught in the grip of tyranny and rebellion. There he meets Avantika (Tamannaah Bhatia), a rebel fighting to rescue Devasena (Anushka Shetty), a princess who has been wrongfully imprisoned for twenty-five years. Inspired by Avantika’s courage and driven by love, Sivudu joins the mission. When he enters Mahishmati and frees Devasena, the people begin to recognise him. During a confrontation, the royal guard Kattappa stops the fight and kneels before Sivudu, revealing that he is Mahendra Baahubali, the son of the noble prince Amarendra Baahubali (Prabhas). The past unravels: Amarendra and his cousin Bhallaladeva (Rana Daggubati) were raised as heirs by the matriarch Sivagami (Ramya Krishna). Though Amarendra was crowned king for his wisdom and compassion, Bhallaladeva’s jealousy led to betrayal. Manipulated by lies, Sivagami ordered Amarendra’s death, carried out by a loyal but misled Kattappa (Sathyaraj). Now, Mahendra must rise. With Kattappa and the rebels beside him, he challenges Bhallaladeva, rescues Devasena, and reclaims the throne of Mahishmati.

In a statement, Variance Films Founder/President Dylan Marchetti said: “Throughout the RRR re-release we kept fielding the same question from audiences newly turned on to the glory of Indian Cinema: ‘what should we watch next?’. Our answer was always the same: Baahubali. When Shobu and SS Rajamouli reached out with this idea, we jumped at the chance, because the only thing better than seeing a film like this is seeing it on the biggest possible screens with a packed, cheering audience. SS Rajamouli films are what movie theaters are built for, and now, audiences new and old alike can experience the euphoria as never before”
